Writer's picture: Arianna SparrowArianna Sparrow

Overthinking is to put too much time into thinking about or analyzing (something) in a way that is more harmful than helpful . Overthinking is often associated with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and borderline personality disorder. Listed below are the 3 main types of overthinking .

Rant and rave - This type of overthinking occurs when we believe that we have been wronged by outside parties. Due to whatever situation we went through, Our self righteousness is wounded and because of this we want retribution to hurt the people that hurt us.

Righteousness- the quality of being morally right or justifiable.

Retribution- something given or precise to compensate especially dealing with punishment.

Life of their own - this type of overthinking begins innocently (out of nowhere)and entertains possible causes of our feelings

Chaotic - this type of overthinking is random. It entails all kinds of concerns that are unrelated . Negative thoughts flood into our mind all at once

Things that can prevent overthinking

exercise & hobbies- Doing these two activities can give you sense of accomplishment and identity

set up overthinking hours- a time frame set aside to think . Normally by the time you get to the hour set, your problems seem minuscule

In conclusion; overthinking is NOT your friend! It takes away your power- makes you question your emotion as well as low self esteem. It also pushes you to make rash decisions . Although it may be a barrel, combating overthinking is the ultimate prize!
